The story of... Roy

The story of Roy (1979) and Total Support Group (TSG) begins when he calls the director of a machine factory in Den Bosch. That was in 2001 was looking for an internship at an engineering office, where he could put his newly acquired knowledge into practice.

Unfortunately the answer was no. However, they saw another possibility. Within no time Roy was called by TSG Group from Veldhoven: “You can come over for an interview.”

But well. How do you arrange transport, as a student in his early 20s, living in Sint-Michielsgestel? Den Bosch was around the corner, Veldhoven was a bit further away. Within TSG Group we like to think in terms of solutions: "There is a colleague of ours who has to come this way from Den Bosch, he will pick you up." No sooner said than done.

His job interview was a fact and the rest, as they say, is history. Or as Roy himself puts it: “Such little things are characteristic of this company. It felt so good that after my internship I stayed and never left.”

Engineering of various projects
“As a mechanical engineer I have been able to work on the most diverse projects in recent years. From conveyor belts, 5 meter deep fryer to elevators. We are only responsible for the engineering. It is not that we are involved in the production. If you work external at the clients organization which has an own factory, then you can sometimes see the end result.. Or if you are involved in one of our turnkey projects, where prototypes are built, you can also see the end result. But usually not. Those elevators that we drew, for example, were manufactured in Hong Kong, so you can't see them."

You never stop learning
“Total Support Group always pays a lot of attention to our development. In all the years that I have worked here I have participated in many courses. From an Excel training to a shape and place tolerance course and from a communication workshop to training in construction principles. In addition, I followed the 2-year evening course hts, at the expense of TSG. You never stop learning and it also maintains the quality of your work and professional knowledge.”

Stand by each other
“We have a fairly open structure here. You can easily join your colleagues, because there is no culture of islands. That also translates to cooperation. Colleagues are there for each other and you can just talk to each other if you can't figure something out. During the lunchbreak we often go out for a walk together. Then it is not just about work, we also discuss everyday things.”

Activities outside of work
“TSG regularly organizes activities to meet each other outside of work. Games, dinners, parties. Also very important for colleagues who work external at our clients. Location. You keep them involved in your organization and with colleagues who work internally. That is always very pleasant and contributes to the togetherness.”

Finally
“I have never been bored here for a moment, started at the bottom of the ladder as an intern and progressed to a lead role as a senior mechanical engineer. I have had the opportunity to develop both professionally and personally. With great colleagues at an employer who is ready for me. So nothing to complain about.”
